This paper examines ways that prospective EFL teachers to South Korea can supplement an English Conversation curriculum with lessons that can educate middle- and high-school students about American culture and history. An overview of existing theses, articles, and books that relate to the teaching of ESL/EFL, history, culture, or a combination of those subjects is provided. Next, the author reflected on his time teaching at a high school in South Korea, and provided advice to those who are interested in teaching there. The author then provided a proposal for implementing a content-based curriculum in which American culture and history lessons work in conjunction with language ones. Finally, the author presented a 12-unit curriculum using a Korean English Conversation textbook, qHigh School English Conversation, q as a model for how EFL teachers can create lesson ideas based on American culture and history depending upon the theme of each unit.--Includes text from document.This paper examines ways that prospective EFL teachers to South Korea can supplement an English Conversation curriculum with lessons that can educate middle- and high-school students about American culture and history.
